About the Author

Chaplain (Colonel) John W. Schumacher US Army, Retired, entered the Army as an active duty chaplain in July 1965.  He served this country as a military pastor for 30 years, which included two combat tours in Viet Nam. 

He presently resides with this wife, Martha, in Glendale, Arizona.  He serves as the Chaplain Endorsing Agent for the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches and as Associate Chaplain Endorsing Agent for the National Association of Evangelicals.  He also serves as a volunteer chaplain for the Arizona Highway Patrol.

Entered Active Duty as an Army Chaplain in July, 1965, at Fort Meade, MD.  Other US assignments: Fort Carson, CO; For Monmouth, NJ; Fort Lewis, WA; Fort Ord, CA; Carlise Barracks, PA and Alaska.

Viet Nam (1965-1966 and 1969-1970), and Korea (1978-1980)
